I live on an acreage just a few miles outside of Thorsby, Alberta – the town where I was born and raised.  The Powlik’s have lived in the community now for five generations.  My familiarity with the area (covering Edmonton, Leduc, Wetaskiwin and Brazeau Counties) and rural background provides me with the unique skillset needed when helping you buy or sell.

As a graduate from NAIT’s Business Administration program I have plenty of diverse business experience.  I owned three NAPA auto parts stores in Thorsby, Wetaskiwin and Breton and eventually sold in 2006 to Dash Distributors.  In 2003, I joined Re/Max Leduc and have never looked back.  Right away I knew this was the career for me.  My business experience and life path have given me tons of experience in a wide variety of areas that I can pass on to my clients.

Thorsby is my home and I am actively involved and passionate about making it an even better community to live in.  Since 1986, I have supported the Thorsby 4-H Multi Club purchasing steers every year and also sponsoring many awards.  Community events were always important to us and I have spent a lifetime being involved making things better.  I started coaching hockey in 1996 and was always very active in supporting the teams our kids played on.  Many years ago I received the first NHLPA Goals and Dreams Grant in Alberta.  I was also successful in attaining many other grants which were instrumental in improving our local hockey and agriculture arenas.  With every transaction I am involved in I support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and have become one of Re/Max’s top Contributing Agents.  In 2010 I was recognized for my efforts as a coach and volunteer and was awarded The Provincial Volunteer Recognition Award by the Minister of Tourism, Park and Recreation.  I am very proud of that award and appreciate their recognition of my efforts.

Though they’re grown now and in the beginning stages of their own careers, my love for sports is something I’m proud to share with my children.  Through Brandon, Carson and Kaylyn’s hockey and fastball involvement we travelled from Vancouver to Halifax, made a tremendous group of friends and enough memories to last a lifetime.  Sharon and I are lucky to still watch the kids play in hockey and ball tournaments and I love going team roping with all three kids.

I’ve been fortunate to help two of my children buy their homes in Thorsby and surrounding area. Brandon, now working with me, lives on a farm outside of Thorsby with his wife Sarah and their son Kade. Carson, an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Technologist, and his wife Lauren live in Calmar. Kaylyn is a teacher in Drayton Valley and she is my next dream client.

My wife of over 30 years, Sharon has been a big part of my success. She took care of things when I was working and helps with community events. She taught play school in Thorsby and has for many years. We can’t go very far before someone recognizes “Mrs. Powlik”. Sharon is very active in our community and volunteers at many events.

I’m young enough to be full of energy and will work hard to sell your property or find you one to buy.  I’m old enough to have a ton of experience so I’m able to offer lots of advice.  I make real estate fun, simple and easy!
